Servo Connectors are pleased to
offer products that will
meet your
RoHS requirements.
The adoption by the EU in 2003 of the Restriction of Hazardous Substances or RoHS, became enforceable by law in 2006 and consequently compliance by manufacturers and suppliers (Distributors) has become an important issue but not without difficulties.
The difficulties can be clearly seen, when the six (6) hazardous materials, to be restricted are known, being:
- Lead
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Hexavalent Chromium
- Polybromiated Biphenyls
- Polybrominated Diphenyl Ether
The last two (2) materials are flame retardants, that are used in the plastic industry but Lead, Cadmium and Hex’ Chromium, were used extensively, in the connector industry.
The biggest challenge for the manufacturers was, to maintain the existing performance criteria of the products. Whilst moving away from these materials to be compliant with the RoHS regulation.
This, key performance/compliance issue was a challenge that created strong debates within the manufacturers and with customers and indeed remains a discussion point.
Most manufacturers and suppliers, now offer products that are RoHS compliant, however the key is the performance associated with the compliance.
Therefore, we at Servo Connectors are happy to discuss and guide you in your product selection process, if you are seeking a RoHS complaint product, to be used within your equipment.
